It was packed with top riders and the results showed how tight it was. 8 riders left and most of the scores were between 89 and 92. Only Mark Webb stuck out with 94 point and made already clear who´s the style priest that day. The weather turned from shower to pouring rain but the crowd was celebrating their athletes and it was awesome to watch how they cheered their heroes on.

Sergej Geier, one of the top riders himself, had bad luck when he picked last year’s winner Mark Webb as his first competitor.
Even though he gave everything in that run – Mark was just too strong that day.

The wakeskaters had their share of excitement as well, as the final was an all German one. Acting IWWF Junior World Champion Tarik Ghoniem clearly was the strongest contestant, leaving Moritz Thiele (Berlin), Lukas Süß (Duisburg) and Jan Grabski (Giessen) to take ranks two to four.

A perfect sensation! Frederic „Fredy“ von Osten, 17 years of age, beats the complete wakeboarding world elite, including two times World Champion Nick Davies (UK) and Tom Fooshee (USA) – who, for the last three years, was unbeaten in Hamburg. Being a local completely paid off for Fredy, who had the following tricks in his winning run: Mobe and Crow Mobe 5, Frontside 700 over the Kicker, Frontside 450 Transfer on the skatebox, 5 Roll to Blind, Ollie on the rail, 315 and a Switch Tailglide over the kicker! We’ll certainly hear and see a lot more of this exceptional talent.

Some pretty close duels in here. Hinterberger obviously caught a very good day, but had to conquer Fredy von Osten in the semis, while Lior Sofer met a sensational Miles Töller. Eight of the very best Wakeboard Cable riders in their fight for a place in the Final Four.

The first round of the Wakeboard competition already showed that the day was to feature some amazing surprises. Every heat could have been a final. A stunned crowd witnessed multiple World Champion Bernhard Hinterberger beat acting World Champion Nick Davies, and a German kid namend Miles Töller evicting the Australian sunnyboy Matty Hasler.

Inverts only, there’s nothing better to make the jaws of an unsuspecting audience drop. See Nick Davies, Fredy von Osten and Mike Ketellapper fling themselves through the air in between towers one and two. Nice crane camera, too!

Last year’s winner Mark Webb (UK) did it again and took the first place easily. Michael Beran (CZE) and Ben Wallace (UK) shredded into positions two and three.
Another gem of the day were the Best Trick competitions, and they were British all the way: Alex Coleburn (BMX Miniramp) and Nick Davies (Wakeboard Cable) went most berserk and took their titles to the noise of an amazed crowd.
In between competitions, the festival stage delivered the matching sounds. Swedish punk rockers Millencolin opened the musical program with their second appearance at the Telekom Playgrounds and got the crowd going really good. But when Sublime with Rome entered the stage, the crowd immediately turned into one happy monster. Founded in the nineties, the legendary ska-punk band returned onto a European stage after 14 years of absence, featuring their new singer Rome. The grand sound finale was delivered by headlining act Gentleman. Germany’s most successful Reggae artist delivered songs like “Different Places”, “Intoxication” and his current single “To The Top”, and brought a lot of musical sunshine, making everyone forget that it was actually raining.
