The story of Sloe Gin starts in the Spring.
There is a plant at the trails called the Blackthorn.
It is a small tree or a big bush with thorns
that are about an inch long. It takes over
wherever it lives too. I got a thorn in
my finger one May and it didn't
come out until Christmas.
It also makes these nice white flowers.
Somehow, these flowers turn into berries
and get very fat. They are very bitter.
They make the skin in your mouth
feel like its peeling off.
Me and Rebekah collected lots of
them in a bucket this Autumn and
gave them to Nigel
Then a few months later he gave us
back a bottle.
I think what he did was buy some gin,
then crush up all the Sloes and mix
them in with the gin and loads of
sugar.
Anyway this Christmas Nigel gave us
a big bottle of gin which taste amazing
and knocks you out.
